Symptom
In this and later versions of Microsoft Outlook, certain attachments will be blocked. Although you will be informed that the email contains attachments, you will not be able to access them.

Cause
This is a security enhancement that is standard in this and later versions of Microsoft Outlook. It is designed to prevent an unwary user from running potentially dangerous attachments that may contain viruses or similar harmful code.

Solution
If you want to unblock specific attachments, use RegEdit and open the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security

Then create a new Key of type String Value called Level1Remove. Edit this new key and enter in the extensions of attachments you want to unblock, for example:

Value name:
Level1Remove
[p]
Value data:
.exe;.scr

Retstart Outlook for this to take effect. Note that you will not be able to run any attachments of the types specified from the email, you must save them first.
