Symptom
When you start Service Accent a Pervasive.SQL status of 46 is generated. A status of 46 is a permissions error which means that Pervasive.SQL can not access the database correctly.

Cause
There may be a number of causes, but after exhausting the obvious ones, if you run Pervasive.SQL Server, it may be that the Pervasive.SQL services do not have sufficient permissions.

Solution
In Windows Explorer, perform the following:

  1. Locate and right-click your AccentDB folder
  2. Click Properties
  3. Click Security
  4. Click Advanced
  5. In the Permissions tab, ensure SYSTEM has full access. If not:

    1. Double-click the line with SYSTEM in it
    2. Click Full Control
    3. Click OK and Apply
    4. If prompted to apply the changes to all files, sub-folders and children, click Yes
    5. Click OK
